Welcome to Southern Comfort Gaited Horse Drill Team!

The equestrian sport of drill is world wide with various organizations formed to unite drill teams with a common goal!

How did Southern Comfort get started?
The idea of an all gaited horse drill team has been around for some time however, it never came to be before us. Southern Comfort was formed in the fall of 2002 when a group of riders came together and braved the winter chill to start practice. 12 brave souls, men and women arrived for practice every Saturday morning to learn how to drill with their trusty, trail seasoned mounts. Several of the riders had ridden their gaited horses in other drill teams but felt they just didn't fit in as well. They wanted their own venue to show off the smoothness and versatility of these wonderful breeds and to better educate the public about their existence!
Information about Idaho Drill teams
The Idaho Drill Team Association was formed in 1999 for the purpose of joining all the teams in Idaho. They sponsor two competitions during the year to help promote the sport thru friendly competition.
